Celebrations of a Bumper Year!

The annual [email protected] Leaf Awards took place last week (Sept 9). This marked a bumper year with 52 excellence awards announced.

Chair Kenneth Freeman explained, “Not only is [email protected] celebrating our 20th year but we are also able to celebrate this impressive number of awards, just to underline a real bumper year of excellence for our members’ submitted work.”

Continued Sponsorship from Koberg BV

“We are grateful for the continued sponsorship by Koberg BV, one of the industry’s main plant suppliers and the support of Lechuza who loaned their premises as the base for the ceremony. ”

The entries were all considered by a team of judges – Nicola Bristow, Greg Redwood, Bill Peebles and Rob Stirling - who visited all on-going installations and used photo evidence for time-limited entries i.e. Christmas, Special Events and the new Goodwill Leaf Awards.

Best Design Installations

The judges nominated the two Best Design & Installation Projects, already nominated for Gold Leaf Awards. These were the Royal College of Physicians in Liverpool, by Urban Planters Design, with its ‘superb living walls (above) in reception where the plant selection is fabulous and looking healthy '.

Unusual Theme

The second winner of a Best Design was Bermonds Locke Aparthotel by Indoor Garden Design which they described as ‘a very interesting and unusual theme with a mix of real and replica cacti and succulents giving a realistic and convincing effect. A wall of courtyard herb pots worked really well too.’

Special Award for Ian Drummond

Last but by no means least, there was a special award for one of our most active Ambassadors, Ian Drummond (@plantman_about_town) of Indoor Garden Design for his outstanding services to the industry. “I am also so proud of #TEAMIGD with all their success at the awards, winning in all categories again.
