Extending the Bare Root Season

Wyevale Nurseries’ new cold store facilities allowed the company to extend its bare root hedging and forestry transplant supply season to assist customers seeking supplies.

Its recently doubled cold storage capacity meant that their stock was in prime condition for despatch throughout April into mid-May.

3,000 Cub. Metre Capacity

Carol Dickinson, Head of Business Support at Wyevale Nurseries, said: “Our 3,000 cubic metres of cold store space enabled us to provide this extension to the season. This has been beneficial to our customers, some of whom were behind with the season due to the very wet spring and subsequent Coronavirus outbreak."

British Sown & British Grown

Wyevale have invested in its new market-leading transplant facility in response to increasing demand for British-grown native trees and transplants. 80% of its transplants are now British sown and British grown.

Carol added: “Planting ‘British sown, British grown’ will massively reduce the risks to our biosecurity. Pests and disease control is a high priority on site at Ledbury and we encourage clients to come and see before they buy.
