15,000 Attend National Tulip Day
More than 15,000 people came to National Tulip Day on Saturday (January 18th), the official kick-off for the new tulip season.
For the ninth year in a row, Dutch tulip growers laid out a picking garden with 200,000 colourful tulips on Dam Square in Amsterdam. With massive interest from the international press, the garden was opened by tulip princesses (wish children) from Make-A-Wish Netherlands. Afterwards, the public present could collect a bunch of tulips for free!
Collaborating parties in 2020 included Van Straalen de Vries, De Wit Transport, Varga-Beemster Transport, veredelaars Hybris, Remarkable, Vertuco, Holland Bolroy en No Limit, Municipality of Amsterdam and Keukenhof which opens from 21 March to 10 May 2020.
