Another Dutch Party?
The final of the International Grower of the Year takes place tonight (22nd January 2019) during the IPM in Essen. Two Royal Flora Holland members are among the finalists!
Last year at the IGOTY awards, the Dutch threw a party! This year also looks promising with Oserian from Kenya and OK Plant from Naaldwijk, amongst the finalists for the 2019 prizes.
Sustainability Award Category
Oserian Development CO LTD from Kenya is competing in the Sustainability Award category. Oserian grows more than a dozen rose varieties that comprise the entire colour spectrum. They work on special collections with breeders, such as 'English garden' roses, large-flowered premium roses with long stems and roses in popular pastel colors. They also grow spray carnations and limonium.
Rob and Desiree Olsthoorn (OK Plant)
Finished Plants and Trees Category
OK Plant from Naaldwijk is nominated in the Finished Plants and Trees category. The company stands out from others with more than 100 varieties of Little Kolibri orchids. In their second greenhouse, they grow seasonal products such as addenda, aster, primula and cyclamen.
Joint Owner Desiree Olsthoorn said " We monitor the market and consumers and offer a total product. By varying the pot, we quickly respond to trends and seasons.”
The results of this prestigious awards event will be announced this evening.
